The joy of getting old

The joy of getting old

My skin is all broke open
My body feels so sore
My energy is all zapped up
My whole form is at war
My beard has turned to snowy white
My head is bald and shiny
And it won’t be too many years
When I leave this shell behind me.

It’s funny though cause I’m so happy
My heart is filled with joy
It weren’t like that when I was young
When each day I would destroy
My health by all those foolish things
That young blokes seem to do
I’m so glad that they are over
I don’t mind telling you.

I’m not growing old at all
No, I’m just growing up
My mind is filled with wisdom
Love overflows the cup
And when it comes that final day
I reckon I’ll still smile
Cause something tells me deep within
I’ll be back here in a while.

When I saw that title I knew I'd better read this one now. Lots of physical things to deal with, but, oh the joy these later years bring. I knew I'd like this one, Peter. Be back in a while. I like that line, my friend.... Robert.

Thanks Robert. I remember seeing the spiritual teacher Osho die so peacefully and all his followers celebrated his death. I want my death to be celebrated Not mourned over. I appreciate your very kind comments, my friend....peter
