A Schoolboy's Cry

Behind the mask of the schoolboy's cries
Deep in hiding from the bullies lies
A boy of only ten, when it all began
Being forced to submit to a bad man

He was way much older
Putting hand's on my shoulder
To my throat he held a knife
I was afraid for my dear life

Fear of ridicule, fear of shame
Fear of smearing the family name
Not saying a word, holding it all inside
In the darkness my feelings would hide

That summer was over, but the memories were kept
Not a day would go by where the schoolboy wept
Turning to faith, to put those feelings away
Don't know if it was me or you who did sway

The years have now passed, with memories suppressed
Not once having that summer of horrors expressed

Bullying and abuse can never be tolerated. Shame on the ones who make the lives of others hell! It can leave negative effects for life. Congrats on your win, Tim.

Tim, first, sorry for what you went through, hun.. Second bless you for helping others, and third congrats on a great win. I used to worry about my son, small in stature like me. Took some MMA with him. He is 33 now and has taught his girls and son very well. A shame it has to be that way... Hugs.. Arlene

Hi Tim; This is very touching. Kids go through so much when they are growing up. Some never make it. I have a poem here about a boy in Chicago. Part 1 and part 11. ( The Night Was Young ). I am not writing now. I just got out of the hospital.. Blessings.... Lucilla

Oh my god Tim...What a wonderful and brave poem you have written... That and your faith seems to be your way of exorcizing that demon...Unfortunately, there seems to be no cure for these monsters so to me, the only answer is quarantine, much like leper colonies (The moon comes to mind) I had a similar experience but thankfully, I was old enough to kick him in his tender spot and he never bothered me again...Thanks for this - Tim

Reminds me an old expression "Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer" And I hear what your saying , I am the same, its easy to give good advice, not so easy to follow it!!! Cheers

Closing your heart, lets the bullies win, so I will add a wee twist to this, all that you do, coaching and looking out for others like that, speaks volumes as to how you choose to live your life, I say Bravo, I am sure many will thank you later on in life! Cheers

Oh sweets, what a subject, I hated the pressure, the bullies growing up, the extremes, even the littlest thing can infect a person. You are a good man for all you have been through and who you are for it

Hi Tim. my grandson had he same problem. We live in a bad area where bullies predominate. In the end we took him out of school and my daughter home schools him. He is now two terms ahead of his age. I was bullied at school, myself, but in those days we were a lot tougher. Enjoyed your poem, my friend....peter

Tim, my son's 13 and had been bullied on school campus and the bus.... He's a tough one. My 8 year old daughter had the same problems. I can't get them all....LOL... Yes, I went up to this ball of young girls, calling my daughter out, after I witness the name calling... geeess! The heat in me. I made them think, and cry. Yes, I bullied all 8 of them. Serves them right, 8 against one... Until they met me... They apologized, and begged me not to tell their mommies. :) Linda

I would have done the same...I have coach 90% of the kids in the area both boys and girls and they all know I will call them out if I see them doing something wrong....You must have started having kids at 15...there is no way you are over 28 :)

Bullies are a scourge on society. You did a great job of expressing your emotions NOW. That is one of the purposes for poetry. I really liked reading this one.

WOW Tim, it's hard to suppress a memory. I can't seem to imagine this kind of bully. I hear of it always. My son gets ridiculed, but he's a smarty mouth. it would freak me, if this was his story... :( Well done my friend...Linda
