The Chains

I feel the chains,
they've weighed me down.
Where they've sat on my skin,
I can feel them scrape my flesh away.
I've tried to carry the chains by myself.
It has always been my way,
but I can't even walk,
can't move my feet from this place.

I feel a set of hands;
they wrap around these chains.
The weight is slowly going away.
What savior is pulling the heaviness away?
The sores are being healed,
and I can feel my feet begin to move.
I turn to see my savior's face.

There he is.
Not too special to the eyes.
And I see his back bent,
my chains 'round his neck.
I find that he is carrying more than just mine,
there is a following of souls miles and miles,
and I finally recognize the face,
this savior of mine.
