50 GODS

Dear God, If you're here God
Make the fire disappear when they stare God
Take away my fear when they interfere God
Do you fear God? Cause I feel God

   _______________________________

God on the tongue and God within iris,
God knotting the throb of umbilical cords,
God of new giggle, God of old death rattle,
God grieving the beast that has become man.

Millions of inked pages printed in the script of God,
The bow of viola lifted by the will of God,
Watercolours bled thru the schemes of God,
Beatbox, God. Hip hop, God. Rock and Roll, God.

Each empty cell, rusting, God in Alcatraz,
God weeping down an IV that spills chemotherapy,
Woven in the rough threads of shelter blankets: God,
The coins in a can: God; clean needles: God,
God putting out fires and searching rubble.
God in amber alerts, God greening sod.

God the prosthetic, the glass eye, sign language.
Some wheel down the ramps of God,
The girl with Down’s syndrome speaks the gospel of God,
The boy with autism rocks to God.

God in cradle, God in grave,
God prodding the overly-fed, God pleading,
God nodding, God waiting,
God here, God there,
God watching over the odd, the jaded, whores and barhops,
God fading scars, God shooting stars,
God fighting to end the blight of wars.

Seen as spirit guide, Brother Wolf, Sister Moon: God,
Seen as Mohammed,: God ,
Seen as Christ, Seen as YHVH, Seen as Para Brahman,
Tao God, Zen God, Mami Wata God.

God in apologies and God saying, I am an alcoholic,
God mixing marriages, God coupling same sexes,
God marching peacefully, God on hunger strikes,
God surrounding, God internalizing.

God is as real as breath.
The myth is Godlessness.

Amen

I adore this display of ubiquity and personification. "God grieving the beast that has become man..." not necessarily, we function on partial brain use; we would make sequels of Lucifer, if not!.. Swirl, i must fave!

AMEN Cyndi! AMEN! Thanks for this extraordinary piece! It gives lots of reflection on my faith and brings back every pondering issue on this awesome and majestic being "GOD"... Why do I believe Him? How do I know He exists? Why am I subjected to Him?.... My mind cannot answer these, but through faith, my heart can and no matter how science want me to prove His existence, one thing still remains the ULTIMATE TRUTH! God is as real as breath and the myth is definitely Godlessness! Thanks once more!

Aha! Super neat, you actually did use the word "God", 50 times. Cyndi, this is a fresh poem which reads like spoken word for me. Within specific definitions of God, even simply a collective of 'things', is God .... so even Atheists can be God :P Seriously though, if people want to help show God to me through their actions, I have always been up for it. When people tell me wot God is, must be, and can only be, then I drop out and tune-in to better wave receptions.
