Imbued With a Lovely Light

Within her darkness I found my place.
I was betrayed by a lover's kiss.
Lost in beauty and a lovely face.

Was I searching for a land of bliss?
Sometimes a heart can be truly blind.
I was betrayed by a lover's kiss!

Searching for something I couldn't find.
I imbued her with a lovely light.
Sometimes a heart can be truly blind.

My heart sank instead of taking flight.
A lightness of spirit flew away.
I imbued her with a lovely light.

Why in the world did I think she'd stay?
What I imagined was never real.
A lightness of spirit flew away.

We think we control the way we feel.
What I imagined was never real.
Within her darkness I found my place.
Lost in beauty and a lovely face.

When love and people don't meet our expectations, it enables us to grasp the wonder and appreciate the real love when we find it.

Yes and the love that we wished for helps us connect with our own humanity. Within that pain a heart can strengthen and expand beyond our innocence.

To be blinded by the sun..a painful experience indeed..but after that scorching burn..How sweet the breeze that follows would feel.I really felt the verses in your poem Richard..cause I believe many of us experienced such deceit in life..onw time or another..Glad to read your splendid work.

Mind-blowing work, lovely!!! Deep, and so thought-provoking with edges.. just this morning a friend of mine said " but i like the pain, i like the sorrow, it is nuanced, textured and makes the lamp glow brighter"... about something he is going thru. something about this poem has the same edges.... now, if you think i am crazy, i must be:) take care, Richard!

I do not think you are crazy, the pain and angst make us feel alive.

Having someone truly love you, for who you really are, is a wonderful feeling! These words came straight from the heart. You wrote a wonderful poem here, Richard! :)

Nice use of form [we really can't judge by appearance ... it is a hard lesson!] Typo line 2 Richard [lover's] Light & Love

Lovely piece.....I love the way terzanelle flows with you......Never nice to be betrayed by a kiss.....Sad sad sad......"Why did it have to be a friend who chose to betray the Lord, and what did he use a kiss to show them, that's not what a kiss is for" (Michael Card)

Wonderful form, Richard, did you come up with this one yourself? I have never seen it before, but I enjoy how the second line in the preceding tercet is moved to the last line of the next tercet. very lovely. Perhaps I shall try one this evening, or tomorrow morning. LOL Love and hugs, catie :)

No, this form has been around for a long time. I think the first one I read was from Becca. Her and Debbie helped me master it and it is now one of my favorite forms. I also like the Pantoum form. Let me know if you try it.
