Such a sad history. .But at least some good came from it. My grandpa was a soldier in that war. I am happy he survived it or I would not have been here to read about it. Love, Joyce

I don't know the place, but I feel like I do through your vivid words...quite a hard hitting piece but beautiful at the same time; I'm not always a great fan of rhyme, but when it's done like this I really enjoy it - congrats on your win in my contest :)

Powerful write Craig !! Well depicted -- a tragic battle in poetic lyrics. I love American History... mostly because thye are the only country that has ever been able to stand up and fight for what they truly believe in. Xx~Xx

After touring Gettysburg awhile back, I could not even imagine the horror that took place so long ago. The hills were so at peace, the birds hovering sang their sweet songs, it was so quiet, lovely and peaceful. How can it be, that only by the presence of hatred, could such a heavenly place become hell? Who could not be inspired to write a poem, or a song......or shed a tear upon being there I wonder. This is so beautiful, so so sad

This is so well-crafted and heart rending. I was struck again upon contemplation of war, its pyrrhic nature and of how little is changed in its aftermath. War, indeed, is the last refuge of failure.
