California Memory on Branches

Summers here last for six months at least
hot and dry the swallows rest until dawn.
No way out to con-soul the beast,
the year half done is no ones pawn.

Fall is not unique from summer,
hot winds blow throughout the day.
Mockingbirds are not yet a comer,
leaving Christmas to cool and stay.

For Winter it may not even rain,
the clouds are merely a mirage.
The doves fly when it rains very late
not to harsh for all to dodge.

Spring is beautiful but cloudy,
the sun has hidden its beauty,
In June the birds are no longer dowdy
the sun far exceeds its duty.
