HAPPY FAMILY DAY 5 - FAMILY TREE, REPOST FOR LINDA MARIE

I’m an adult orphan and a new parent,
Questions haunt me about what my girl will miss.
Why should my pain and longing be inherent?
Will my loving child mourn her Grandmother’s kiss?
How can I hide my grief, be less transparent?
Where do I lock sorrow when it starts to hiss?
A life lesson grates, shouldn’t she see me cry?
Then I fear she’ll be scared that I, too, will die.

I weep for all that my family won’t see,
Her curls are her heritage, Dad’s parting gift,
When I close my eyes, there she is on his knee,
Cuddled and bounced, that man was no love spendthrift!
My step mom, a true friend, would be so happy,
During those barren years, my spirits she’d lift.
Oh, how she’d have laughed at my baby’s sweet ways,
Raged for her heartbreaks, bawled on her wedding day.

Some days I can feel them smiling from above,
And the loneliness is easier to bear,
Then I walk to the park, hear a mourning dove,
Feel crushed by the clouds between Heaven and here.
I believe in His truth of eternal love,
It glows in my girl’s heart with all my prayers.

I’ll tenderly nurture her family tree,
Those branches will flourish on their history.

LINDA MARIE, YOU CHERISHED FAMILY ABOVE ALL ELSE
