Sweet Spring

what will you do sweet spring
to weather the torrid snow
will you sing to us like daffodils
and lilies or leave the wind to blow

what will you do mother earth
as winter wares a mask
only sunlight surrounds her girth
when will you remove this torrid birth
what will you do mother earth

this winter with no rain
the flowers have already bloomed
what will you do sweet spring
for you linger without any pain
what will you do mother earth

winter is contagious on the east coast
snowing for all those that know
what will you do sweet spring
for our joy is vested in you
feeling cool sunlight for all to boast

what will you do mother earth
from sunlight do refrain
to a drought you have given birth
what will you do sweet spring
don't leave us with only summer pain

sing to the heights sweet spring
for you come only once a year
refresh the birth of all that is dear
your sweet pleasure will appear
what will you do sweet spring
