Without You

Gone are the days when you were near
to wrap and warm my yearning heart.
The pillow where you laid your head
now catches midnight's lonely tears.
I start awake at break of day
to empty rooms and silent halls
and hours wishing that you'd call
painfully creep - so slowly go.

So many things were yours ... and mine,
items we together shared,
and photographs of you and I
are all left here - just like me.
I know, but I can't admit you're gone,
so always in this lonely heart,
always in my memories
you and I will be.

What else can I do ... without you...

Inspired by the song "What'll I Do"
Mostly blank verse

this is wonderful. It must be for that one contest about the songs. I did not even try that one. Reminds me also of the beautiful song by this same title. Remember the original when it was sung by Harry Nilsson?
