Remember My Love

Remember My Love

I never wanted to be the one to turn you in
Never wanted to see you live your life in total sin
Always wanted you to live under the sunshine
Casting away the shadows you were supposed to leave behind

Never wanted to see you living in a jail cell
Never wanted you to walk the road to hell
Always wanted to see you living in the light
So darkness wouldn’t find you when I gave you life

Never wanted to live in only the memories we exchanged
Never wanted to stop hoping that someday you would change
Always wanted you to become who you were born to be
Fighting back the demons that only fed you misery

You’ve been in prison for years now and I still cry
Mostly in a piece of my soul deep down inside
I don’t like the world to see the tears from my eyes
Opening up the mask of fear that I might not be able to survive

My son, the love of my life I miss you every single day
Little by little it feels like my soul is starting to decay
From only living in the memories we had someday
Trying so hard not to let them fade away

When you feel me slipping away from your mind
Remember the smile of my face before you become blind
Remember a mother who had no choice but to put you in that place
Left her broken to know the scars of that day will never be erased…

Missing you....

Gail; This is so touching, it made me cry. I don't have a son. I have a daughter but it hurts just the same. Like Owen says - I hope it' not true..... Lucilla

This is an unimaginable sorrow. I had hoped it was an artistic expression but in reading the other comments I see that is not the case. While your son has breath, there is hope that he will become who he is meant to be. A mothers prayers are a powerful thing and I am sure you pray for him constantly. Hugs Rick.
