Rubicons and Oubliettes

The threshold of my Rubicon,
a thousand times been crossed!
For though I've lost I've also won
at such a dire cost.

Locked inside my oubliette,
covered in frost, I cannot feel.
I pace and fret, and shan't forget-
I'm but a cog in a greater wheel...

A small cog can move a large wheel. Never underestimate your power.

I have confidence enough for two, but I think voluntary instead of forced humility is a good thing for my Soul :)

The world spends enough time telling us we are not good enough. Sometimes a lack of humility is okay. ( as long as it is not replaced with arrogance or false pride)

I understand, but it was really an homage to humility. I have my share of problems, which the oubliette is a metaphor for, but in comparison to the world's woes, my problems seem small. Thanks, Richard :)

Sometimes it feels like we are just an unnoticed cog for sure...Great expressive work..Sara

Thanks for the new word: "oubliette" ... I'm going to use it soon. Inside an oubliette and at a point of no return, you really know how to transmit a feeling using just few words. I'm going to Fav this poem. Great work, Archaic!
