Trouble in Paradise

There is trouble in paradise
As far as the eye can see
Someone’s been talking to a snake
And eating from the forbidden tree
The rules were quite simple
But temptation proved too great
There is trouble in paradise
And they’ve sealed the human fate

There is trouble in paradise
As far as the eye can see
Their nakedness was beautiful
Now they are ashamed of their body
Eden is behind them
The Old Testament lies ahead
There is trouble in paradise
They should have heeded what God said

There is trouble in paradise
As far as the eye can see
Slavery will haunt them
Until Moses can part the sea
Commandments were given
That we still break today
There is trouble in paradise
And it has never gone away
