UNTITLED

It is as though the sun is my lover, unwilling to part
with my adulation, the very rays seem to hear
each thought unspoken, those heartbeat words
that keep harmony with waves,
those soul words of praise for purest pleasures:
warm sand and Great Lake waters.

The sky is rapturous, drizzling hues
that nearly sting the eyes, leaving me
in an odd state of blissful restlessness,
for I am longing to capture all I see,
searching for a way to bring the shoreline home,
wanting, so desperately, to describe how
twilight has begun to slowly roam the horizon,
bewitching dwindled beachcombers,
almost, but not quite, silencing even gulls

I will fail, as always, to capture
the hush of blue that waits not far above
that coral flush of day's closure
or the perfect lull of smoldering clouds
gifting dreams, lending composure.

Dear Cyndi - You've done it again, brung (is that a word or just an ugly thing?) the indescribable to the page. So many times I've wanted to be devoured by the horizon; and feel the glow of its mirage. "Twilight has begun to slowly roam the horizon" You bring your soul to the paper along with this willing admirer. I am so happy you are here, Cyndi. Tell me again your little girl's name. I hope you're not still sick love, Kathy

Loved the enjambment of the word [wanting, ] hanging there, a space/tab might work stronger, just in that 1 place-& [bewitching dwindled] How about Rapture for the title? [yes please little Sis use my haiku!] Light & Love

:D The untitled is intentional, Sis. 1) The poem is, in essence, about failing to capture what I see into words. A loss of words. 2) So many paintings at the gallery in Port Elgin (where this beach is situated) were untitled. I wanted to mimic that, visual art, since that is what I saw in that sunset.
