Cherished Illusions

I blanked out in foreboding
thinking incorrectly
that it was the only way
so inappropriately.

I heard loudly
my thoughts screaming;
I saw clearly
the visions laughing.

I woke up unduly
washing my senses clean
hoping what I have experienced
was not what I have foreseen.

Some minutes passed by
the hallucinations returned
more horrible and expressive
which left me fearful and concerned.

I stood still once more
eager to be on the safe side
nothing is what it seems
all blurred and unidentified.

Upholding strongly
my intimate hallucinations
keeps me alive and alert
far away from speculations.

All these visions closely related
to the woman I truly adored
woman dead and yet living
in my heart forever unexplored.

In memory to my late mother Ethel Vassallo nee Brown
