The Tern

The Tern

Come quickly—wonder
Hands used from the root—
shy—pale like the rose
as the sailing Tern—

Finding long a beetle
sand surrounds her song—
count his delight—
savage lost in a milky touch

(Ode to Emily Dickensen)
