It's Called Progress

We seem to be losing that loving feeling As we sit side by side at computers I'm engrossed in my P-Soup and writing And Cathie plays games with shooters We're losing the knack of intelligent repartee Don't connect as much anymore We just look things up, do a search on Google Everything is there, that's for sure We definitely need to get back to yesterday When rapport was the name of the game We're losing touch with our friends and loved ones This technological age is to blame Certainly it'll never go back to the way it was It's called progress, I call it sad That our closest friend is now our computer Real people are no longer our fad <3 <3 <3 © Jack Ellison 2013

I was a kid that loved technology. Definitely ahead of my time, but couldn't agree with you more. I mean on one hand it's great to be able to look up anything. I've learned so much on the internet at a fast rate, but you can't really look up friendship or love. Surely there are good people here such as yourself, but in a world so connected, right at our fingertips, it seems we are losing touch with what's really going on. Great work old buddy.

I guess the one thing we can be thankful for in our retirement years, is that we're able to keep in contact with a great bunch of people here on the Soup! Meryy Christmas my friend!!!

Cathie is sitting there doing shooters? Take the bottle away! Or the jello shots! Kick the others out! Cuddle up to her and take her mind off things! Put on Bing Crosby's White Christmas! Light candles... set the mood... and BACK AWAY from the computer! LOL... only kidding! We have matching computers, too... Side by side... I write poetry and Mike surfs the web on his hobbies! Merry Christmas... PS. Dragon sits between us, and the penguins are sleeping at our feet with the puppies and Trolls.

I don't know that the social networks would be a great way to meet people though...you have to be careful who you have as a friend, just look at my sister, she found someone on Facebook, started dating him, and he turned out to be a psychopath....seriously, that is what he truly is...now he is in jail for something he has done crazily! I really connected with this poem though Jack...I love my computer and plan on using it the rest of my life, or until there is something else that comes out!!

What a horrible, horrible outcome for your dear sister!!! I am certainly aware of the dangers... was she harmed in any way? YIKES! Disgusting.........

Alas, Jack, how can we have it both ways. I think it's the poetry that's unchanged, and this still helps connect. I don't think of the technology and infrastructure, as I read the words. So keep the verses coming, and I'll ignore all the rest.
