A Single Syllable

Some of the most meaningful words
Are just a single syllable
"Love," and "Hate;" "You," and "I," and then
"Me" and "Mine" and "Yours," also, "Ours"
"Life" and "Death," "Dark" and "Light," (as in
"Let" "There" "Be" "Light")... but also "Sad;"
"Grace," but also "Fall" "From," and "Loss"
"Joy" and "Faith" come with "Pain" and "Sin"
There's "Peace," (though "War" is said as swift);
"Here" and "Gone" and, respectively, "Don't" "Go;"
"Long" is still just as short as "Short"
"Weak" is never lesser than "Strong"
It's as quick to say "Right" as "Wrong"
It's as much to say "Less" as "More;"
"End" was never harsher a word than "start;"
"Can" was never harder than "can't;"
"Look," "See," "Hear," "Touch," "Taste," each word, then
Think hard on any one of them;
All just a single syllable-
How can one, short sound mean so much?
