blanket

i feel the threads
of time unravel

i grasp yesterday
as a blanket of pain
when memories invade
and i pull covers high
to protect from mind's danger
yet i always draw it back
take a peak beneath
breathe deep
then sigh

what is it
i hope to see,
a blank space,
nothingness,
or a change
of what intrigues?

could these threads
ever dissipate these liaisons
of mother's twisted love
that tear through night?

i try and go back
through memories
and stitch time anew
make amends
a rebirth without womb
a freedom from touch
a life without pain
or immediate death

as time unravels
the threads
of my mind
i pull covers high
and hide
this pain

"A rebirth without womb..." so very meaningful, a transition of enormity. I like how you incorporate your Mother, and rebirth into this self awareness, how you share the pain with Time. The blanket may be your truth. I lo e hoe you explore yourself, I learn from your search Sandra. J.A.B.

So sad, heartfelt words that touched mine deeply that in some way I can relate to. Superb expression and metaphor.you have a lot of talent, and are able to say what a lot if us would like to say, but can't find the words. Excellent. take care best wishes. Pete.

gosh, it is so sad that old memories for you are painful. Mine are mostly good, especially of my very young years with early family. Love this one too, Sandy. Sadness can often produce beauty in the hands of the right person.

Sandy, you have that special gift of grasping the perfect analogies, the metaphors that bring your thoughts to life.

This is so well expressed, I wish to offer you a blanket, when you have a chance read my poem Blanket of Happy, I wrote it in September. Hugs Rick. I'm not a fan of your current icon I much prefer to see your face.

Sandra, this is a WOW poem! So full of raw emotion. I understand how the darkness of night can bring unwanted memories. Writing is a great catharsis...love and blessings, Rhonda
