As I sat alongside him,
and became familiar with his ways,
I learned to read his little nuances.
“I get the feeling you want to tell me something, Nathan, what is it?”
He leaned over as far as the tubes would allow him, and spoke softly in my ear,
“Miss Tisdale, I think I’m going to live.”
I put down the copy book and gave him a silent look,
“What has brought about your change of Heart dear boy?”
He smiled giving me a conspiratorial grin,
“Because, if I were dying, they wouldn’t waste their time sending me a tutor
to teach me my verbs and nouns, now would they.”
I had a sudden rush of compassion for this boy.
As sure as the fact that there are angels walking on earth,
I was also confident that Nathan would make it through this!
Thanks be to God... The end…
