Homeless

He was very lonely in the cold,
Resigned to live a life that we have never known,
Below the city lights where eyes don't wish to see,
In a world that is, but it should never be.
He had so, so many dreams when he was very young,
But fate would reach and crush and break them one by one
Till hope had turned to tears until he cried no more -
Pieces of a world lie scattered on the floor.

How could I pass him by with barely just a glance,
Not even wishing life would gift a second chance,
But I was very late for dinner on that day,
Besides...I had to go...I had to get away...

Dear Craig How tearful this majestic piece. Truth is often from what we turn away love, Kathy

Another great Emmanuel poem. The elements of sadness and perhaps regret have a strong pull on the heart. Wonderful holiday season to you. Much thanks for your recent visit.

I can relate to the hopeless feel of this piece, as I can also identify with being homeless (as I was for a while). Sad, yet beautiful, Craig; kudos :)

another great take on the melody...I had listened to it so much that I was actually singing this one as the tune played in my head...I have seen homeless like you describe countless times on my trips to philly on my bus...so sad...
