The first dance

A wistful wallflower
And a painfully shy boy
At a high school dance
Both out of fear stood in the rear
And would share an occasional glance
Both hearts ached , as if they'd been staked,
And it seemed love had no chance
'Til the nights chaperone saw them alone
And insisted they both dance

It's amazing how the little wallflower of love can be teased into growing by adding just a little light. Nice poem Jon.

An excellent portrayal of those painful experiences, dear Jon! I went to a girls' school and they used to bus the boys in from the local boys' high school for the dances. Thank goodness those days are over - I was your "wistful wallflower". Thanks for the memory lol. :)
