Raccoons

Raccoons donning
Masquerade masks
Go about
Their nightly tasks
Marking territory
They stop and pee
And climb atop
An occasional tree
But carefully avoid
Any man made trap
Lest they become
A coon skin cap

I love the reference to "masquerade masks" :). I was thinking the same thing as Linda - now I can't get the "Davy Crockett" song out of my head! Great rhyme, Jon :)

Hello, Jon .. the ending has me thinking of the legendary David Crockett... a fashion coon cap... i like this, last week animal control caught a coon in a trap.... poor little bandit was eating from the schools trash... have a nice one..LINDA

I loved the Davie Crocket show when I was a kid. As a kid I always wanted a cap like that. But poor little raccoon. I hope that they were able to release him back into the wild.
