Spring Melts

Spring melts winters cold
Caring warmth melts an icy heart
A heart grows with love

*my first real Haiku* =)

Despite my bias and professed ignorance of this format, I still think it is well-executed. I know not what comprises a good haiku, but I'm sure this must be a paragon of the form. Kudos; bud :)

Well, if that is the criteria, then you hit the proverbial nail on the head and knocked this one out of the park (as we say here in the states; do you guys also employ that idiom?)

a haiku in the true sense runs 5/7/5 syllables and refers to nature in some way. It was interesting to try something different. It can actually be hard writing a haiku that flows with the right syllable count and doesn't sound contrived - for me anyway. Others do them well.

I have tried before but they sounded like crap! I could never get the syllables right or the flow. This was with much practice.

So true! Nothing melts a cold hearted person like warmth, caring, and love. If only it wasn't so hard to find such warmth! :) Another great haiku, I love the metaphors, as well. Nicely done, Tom!...Many thanks for the kind comments!
