Bygone

Within the shallows of unsleep,
Poking insomniac sheep
Origami wallpapers unfold
Jade tinted streaks of mold

A bare flecked bulb swirls
Waltzing with smoke curls
Building fires with thoughts
Drinking forget-me-not shots

A memory refuses demise
Accompanied with echoed good-byes
The madding tick on the wall
Creaking footsteps in the hall

Sounds of silence solitude
Cockroaches boldly intrude
Stench of stale urine
On a mattress meant to burn

Fading ember on cigarette,
stained yellow fingers of regret
Eyes too bloodshot to cry
bygone to lovers gone by.
