I very seldom enter contests. Because I can't write for them. I have to have a poem written that will qualify. As far as writing about anything you give me way to much credit. I don't think I could ever do a romantic poem. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. Now you I believe could write a poem on any subject in any poetic form.

your poem has captured the beauty and grace of swans perfectly (although i've heard that they're pretty nasty creatures, actually!). i'd love to have a book of your animal poems, jon!

Thank you. And you are right. I should add that to my poem.

Another excellent rhyme, Jon! They are indeed stately and graceful creatures but I have yet to forge a friendly relationship with them, so I maintain a respectful distance from them, particularly at feeding time: "But when you're late with their food/ They're really quite rude/Which results in flying feathers and mayhem/Then they're hell bent on biting the hand that feeds them." :)
