    Becca, I have written about this as well, trying to deal with this whole unrequited thing. I resolved it by taking the stand that what I gave, if unused, is not theirs to keep. One day, in some strange way, they'll pass it on to someone who'll enjoy the original benefit. I greatly enjoyed reading this coherent, engaging write.
