THROUGH THE WINDOW
I stare out through the window,
Not absorbing what I see;
I watch the raucous Blue Jays
And leaves flutter from trees.
I spy squirrels hoarding nuts
And chipmunks scamper 'round;
The deer are eating lazily
The apples on the ground.
Look, the grass is browner now,
It's snow there soon will be;
But I register none of what I see
For my Love's not here with me.
