Frozen Fragments

                   as days get shorter
                   yuletide's chill fills the air
                   inside and outside
                   wearing all her absence
                   through frozen fragments of hours

Aha! Here's one! This is tanka-rrific, Ruben. Aside from the seasonal personification, I can read this in other ways....which of course is a Ruben-esque quality. Interesting, this tanka has a high syllable count compared to many of your other tanka.

Still waiting for new stuff, Ruben. Like THIS one, which I consider a very strong tanka. And how funny you learned some new slang words today!

Dear Rueben, Excellent Tanka! Even though it doesn't get very cold in Florida, these short daylight hours are unwelcome. Thank you for stopping by and reading my poem. Been sad about losing my father five years ago today. I feel like he's still with me in spirit. Thank you for your friendship. It means a lot to me. Much love always, Carolyn

Ruben- I can't wait for spring!!!! I love the simplicity of this poem and I feel like turning up my heater. Think I will. Thank you so much for your welcome. I have found nothing but warmth and encouragement from everyone so far. I don't know how prolific I will be, because what used to "just come to me" is something I have to really work out now. I have been away from writing for far too long, but I'm here now! barb boyd

Thank you for your Well Wishes on my “Southern Christmas” blog. Having posted it so late I was not expecting any responses, so am overwhelmed. It has further buoyed my Festive Season. I hope that your holiday is treating you well, Scott. And as I have read below, I look forward to seeing more of your words.

Man, this is gooooood. I barely know the form, don't know how it fits within those 'borders.' All I really know is how a poem STIRS me, and this one does. As far as the "resistance' OF COURSE. And your po's are all over that site! Did you check out "tanka" Your po's are featured.... which, don't get me wrong, I get. They rock. I heard through a friend our "maverick" was OUSTED? I'll be souping him, just to see... maybe a misunderstanding? If he's been booted for voicing concerns, I'm outahere

Dude, what a waste that you don't write more---this fills the mind with awesome personification.
