Stately Elm

Elm once clad in gold

   Has shed its colorful cloak

       Awaits winter storms

         Bare limbs lifted heavenward

            As if in supplication.

Old man winter is soon to bring its freezing weather and coat the countryside virginal white. Fall, to me, is the best time of the years except that it heralds winter, but then spring heralds summer, winter in reverse.
