Daddy's Girl

She was a Daddy's girl
The apple of his eye
Somehow things change
as the years go by

His hugs and kisses
Vanished like the sun
He became serious
Instead of being fun

She wanted to be noticed
Purple hair and pierced nose
She started wearing black
From her head to her toes

He said he was leaving
A new family he had
He said not to worry
He'd always be her dad

She didn't shed a tear
As daddy walked away
Still pain needs expression
She cuts her skin each day

If you see her tatoo
It's a black broken heart
Printed with Daddy's Girl
Her life expressed through art

I wrote this one for Donna Jones
to answer some of the questions
she had about my Watch poem.

Wow this is such a important message. On so many levels. The light gone into darkness. Relationships broken, the family unit lost. The importance of the fathers role, is vital in a young girls life. It shapes her relationship, in finding a partner. Great write!! :) tyfs....hugz cherie

Very well expresed this truth about daughters. Funny I saw one with purple hair today. They change there hair with the sagging pants. Where is the romance? We don't give a chance.

Think you cracked this one Rick, parenting skills seem to be in short supply nowadays. Society is getting ever more selfish. Well done write. Take care, Richard

LOVELY....Your words really had a great flow here...and were so so well expressed of the longing in this girl's heart for her father's love. Everyone knows I'm a Daddy's girl....He made me think I'm a princess....He spoiled me. He still looks out for me....calls me....Unfortunately, the world doesn't think that way....I'm a princess only in his eyes......I was going to write a poem on this, and was absolutely shocked when I saw your poem title...On the same wave length! Hugs

The song "Fallen Angel" from Motley Crue comes to mind as I read this. This had some very deep, layered lines. Very well done.
