A Hundred Years

These superficial lives we lead,
are they really worth the cost?
Like a charging stallion-steed,
we're strong and proud... but lost.
The things today we hold in hand,
are temporary treasures,
but effort spent to feed your soul
will surely last forever....
If you could know the day you'll die,
would you let time just idle by?
Or would you try to bend the course of fate,
to make that final ending late?
So this question might be asked,
when you're finished with this lifelong task.
Of all the laughter, sweat and tears...
Will it matter in a hundred years?

I think life always matters and we all leave a stamp on the world in some way. Whether something solid and material or by a gesture or word. Each day we touch a life in our interactions, sometimes we may not see the impact.
