Night Owl

Sitting by her open window,
Was a girl deep in thought,
Lost within a book of Poe,
A perfect poem she sought.

With a curious eye,
He watches her pen,
For she gives it a try,
Every now and then.

He will visit her forevermore,
In silent hours of midnight,
Casting his shadow on her floor,
Within the full moonlight.

Mysterious, nocturnal bird,
Calling out to darkened land,
Speaking such wise word,
Which I cannot understand.

I am lonely, I must confess,
It's just you, me and the moon,
You are much like me, I guess,
So, please sing me another tune.

A messenger of death,
Wailing songs of a banshee,
Has my grim reaper cometh,
Was this warning meant for me?

My soul was projected,
In the shadow of a fowl,
A raven I had expected,
Not the silhouette of an owl!

Thank you so much, Laura, I am glad that you enjoyed this one! Poe is definitely my favorite poet, too. My poem titled, "Nevermore", is also a tribute to him.

In the midnight hour it called my name, This desciple of death and doom. With wisdom's green eyes pierceing the night. A avanging angel did shy, peeling it's Feathers it exposed the truth, did the raven not lie within the owl. I hope you don't mind your poem inspired these lines cheri loved the above by the way.

Hello, Kelly I now just got my computer fix today... LOL, I got tired of creeping up on the soup from my phone. It' not the same when I'm trying to comment a poem:-)... I'm amazed our poem made the hot list in the first 2 hours it was up. That's awesome. Never did I think, it make it that far. Not cause it's us.. But, cause it was about Atlantis. haha :) Kelly, I am proud of all the comments... thank you very much... The Next One Is On You.... You decide the topic, and start the poem. xox~Linda
