Tears From A Tree

                                                I
                                              am
                                              but
                                            a tree
                                           standing
                                          quite tall.
                                         With out any
                                       leaves, to shed
                                     in the fall. Standing
                                  firm, until winter comes.
                                Then I hear someone say
"Yes, I think that's the one!"
Out comes the saw, and they begin
to cut me down. For the sake of a season,
I'm removed from the ground. Placed in a home
and all frilled up. Filling my branches with shinny things,
also a star on top. A couple of weeks later I begin to feel the pain.
No longer getting nourishment from my roots, and my life begins to fade.
                                           I am a simple
                                           tree, that is
                                           used a couple
                                           weeks of the
                                           year.The sticky
                                           sap you see, is
                                           my abundance
                                           of tears. When
                                           I hear the saw
                                           I am filled with
                                           great fear.
                                           Hoping you will
                                           plant another
                                           tree like me, as
                                           you take my life.
                                           For it is truly
                                           the only thing,
                                           that I feel
                                           is right.

WOW! What amazing power this poem has. The illustration of the tree made it perfect. It also made my heart sad because while I was reading it I put myself in the place of the tree and it really did hurt. This is an eye opener for live Christmas trees everywhere. Thanks Dan what a beautiful write.

Remarkable. I'm amazed, how does one come up with such an idea, and perform to this degree?

Danny you get a 7 for this one. I love the way you wrote this poem and also the formation of the tree. it is sad, though beautiful. I wanted to cry. I have a story of a tree. I might just post it here. It will have to be in parts. Thanks for sharing this with us..... Lucilla

The shape added to it but the tree touched me. I'll never think about getting a live tree again. This poem will always be in my mind.

:o) Ha,hahahaha... And we both decided to write a shape poem today? How odd? You are right... It is difficult to write a shape poem and get it just right. :o)
