Pink Roses 'Pon The Gown

French rose accented by carnation pink
'Pon black flannel nightgown well-worn faded
An old gown once deep black as darkest ink
Now washed to a softness by life not jaded

Pinky fingers curved by arthritic joints
Hair white with age like a shining halo
Gown of pink roses washed dull by innocents
Wishes come true tossed 'pon distant rainbow

If only can never change the past's wrongs
Nor darken the faded black nightgown
Nor restore dark blonde where it belongs
It only can fuel esteem beaten down

Life issues some hard blows upon mankind
Shake off regret, to do better be resigned

You have exceeded your norm my friend, you have gone over and above what you normally write (and that is exceptional in itself)! I really loved reading this lovely poem this morning! You write so expertly on this subject, as if you've been there! What a glorious piece, such a dynamic poem, Great Work!!

Sara; This is a very good poem for the contest. I wish I could enter some cotests, but my entries are not accapted I don't if it's my computer, or the site. I wrote to them and I did what they told me - still it don't work. Good luck... Lucilla

I love the way you describe life s phases and changes..The past with its good and bad..The present with its arthritic pains and a yearn to change past wrongs..Yes our past wrongs will always be there to remind us there is only one God..We are all eligible to our weaknesses..But ahh the beautful golden and pinkish memories..They mght fade yet never gone.A very beautiful poem.Tnks for visiting my verse dear

I had to read this twice to get the full effect of what you are saying Sara, and I agree with the message you send here, though I wish upon you the beauty of a golden memory where a woman in golden hair once lay her head on a pillow of blooming dreams, may the dreams find you and cling to you, as a dandelion puff on it's stem, sending my love to you dearest friend, stay beautiful and write some more, love xxx
