What secret does the pumpkin hide,
Beneath his impish grin?
Why not just ask him, but not
A word does Mr. Jack-O-Lantern say?
Instead pumpkin head sits their
Grinning, with a Cheshire cats grimace.
Look beneath his handle cap,
Maybe the riddler’s answer lies, hidden within.
Be brave my friend and dare
Look inside, nope, no guts, no glory,
A cut outs empty, orange gored, is all your find.
Jack be nibble, jack be quick,
Trick or treat, still know
Response, will he give.
Smiling, pumpkin head, placed
Upon the top porch step,
Scaring little children, on
Saint Hollows Eve night.
By mornings first light, he's gone again.
Taking his great secret with him??
The only evidence that he
Existed at all, is a pile of melted candle wax.
So I'll never know his secret,
But maybe it's better this way,
After all what is Halloween without the
Fear factor anyway?
Pumpkin head knows the answer but
He will not say?
