THINGS THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN
The lovely rose no less a perfume does bestow
Even though beyond the wall it has to grow.
The lark, ascending, oh so sweetly sings
But it is true, the lark sings only on the wing.
Possession does not always gladness bring;
Fret not, my soul, for things that might have been.
