Thicket

My trembling feet may venture
Where others dare not go
These fingers touch the blood red thorns
And remind my heart to beat slow

But still the sparrow sings to me
Quietly from the dogwood tree
Echoing across the falling leaves
"Come to me, come to me."

Juli, I love this delicate rhyme you have spun. The prose of everyday things.
