Scars

The scars you see
The one on my ear
from that hurled can
Coca Cola was the real thing

The scar on my knee
From falling
On my rocky past
I couldn't run fast enough to fly

My one cracked discolored tooth
From my former perfect smile
That one time
Sense was knocked into my head

Yet the scars you cannot see
The deep ones
Cut into me
In the dark and hidden places
Occasionally you may see some traces
Revealed in words or a glance
Sometimes in a repeated dance
The patterns of me
Pushing and pulling to be free

Yet my scars
Help me
Clarify

Help me
Identify
Who I am
Where I'm from
How far I've come

My scars of the mind
Within them I find
My gentler spirit
A way to be kind
More human
Understanding
Less commanding

I do not wish to inflict
Any scars on you
Yet I know it's true
You
Yes you
Have your Scars too

You are very deep my friend. How wise you are to realize that every scar is a blessing in disguise.

Oh my, yes. Time has brought bags of scars. Like you, I've learned from them, and managed to put many of the worst ones away. Your writing is perceptive and deeply felt, as always... Jack

Very eloquent and deep....truthful...We are all scarred in one way or another...But beauty defies scarring of any kind....

In that case I must be far from beautiful.

Yes Richard we all have our scars, and we all struggle with our lonesome battles, therefore, we need to show kindness to each other, something that comes easily and readily to you, blessings, from my heart to yours xxx

Understanding & knowing one another's strengths & flaws..yet, still, they want to know all about each other. A sign of true friendship. Excellent...Sandra is pretty cool. :)
