Unending Spring

Red wine and retrospect
Make my thoughts more clear
Life here is not our own
And time swirls out of our control

Seasons come and go too fast
Dancing on spring days never last
Summer heat gives way to fall
And wintery evenings take their toll

Then suddenly, comes twilight’s dread
As days draw closer to an end
Much faster than we ever dreamed
Stolen away from us, it seems

When confusion and sadness creep inside
And whisper fear into my head
When sorrow brings me to my knees
Haunting me inside my dreams

When I ponder life and death
The breathing of my dying breath
The finality… It just seems wrong.
Is this to be my final song?

Or can I long for something more…
Will I enter some unknown door
when my flame is finished burning
when my body shudders cold

Can I boldly face what is to come
Trusting there is something better?
An eternal season to dance and sing…
The hope of dancing in an unending Spring

Beautifully executed. If one is not ready to face tomorrow, how can they really be ready today? Either way, tomorrow is an inevitability.
