I Took A Walk Today

I took a walk in the woods today
saw a robin and blue jay
Tending the young in the nest
a simple creature doing it's best
I saw a deer tending her fawn
such tenderness in early dawn
When I left I walked my street
what I saw was not so neat
Saw a Mom striking her child
never saw that in the wild
Saw a Dad screaming at his son
was it so bad whatever he'd done
People fighting over a parking space
never saw such anger on a face
Saw two kids fight over a ball
never taught to share at all
It made me turn and walk away
think I'll walk in the woods today
