Glass House Blues

Please throw a rock so I can be free
Shatter these clear walls of my house
I'm tired of living in a clear prison
The outside search lights are awfully bright

Shatter these clear walls of my house
At times I feel like I'm going crazy
The outside search lights are awfully bright
There's no shade when you live behind glass

At times I feel like I'm going crazy
You see me and think you understand
There's no shade when you live behind glass
So I retreat to the sanctuary of my mind

You see me and think you understand
In reality you do not have a clue
So I retreat to the sanctuary of my mind
It is privacy that I wish I could find

In reality you don't have a clue
I'm tired of living in a clear prison
It is privacy that I wish I could find
Please throw a rock so I can be free

Frank H got me to thinking what
it would be like to live in a glass house.

No walls glass or otherwise can hold the imaginative and moving words that flow from your mind. The poems will seep out of every crevice. Every time you retreat into your sanctuary you free yourself.

A very interesting write, Rick.. everyone feels this way some time or the other, don’t they? And when you try and get honest with the situation you recognise it is time to turn around and walk away, to start living your dream… that’s the deal with life, I suppose!! I love this poem!

Reading the poem reminds of the movie The Glass House, but I can relate to the feelings of living in a glass house. Richard
