Grief

He could no longer sleep in their bed
Their room left untouched unlike his heart
He remembered all the things she had said

Fifty years they had never been apart
No one understood him the way she did
Their room left untouched unlike his heart

When they met she had looked like a kid
Her pretty eyes followed his gaze
No one understood him the way she did

She allowed him his peculiar ways
Others saw him as a grumpy guy
Her pretty eyes followed his gaze

She lost the battle he wonders why
He was angry there was so little time
Others saw him as a grumpy guy

She told him everything would be fine
He was angry there was so little time
He could no longer sleep in their bed
He remembered all the things she had said

A sad and moving poem. I especially like the last stanza. No matter how much time we have, it always seems like it is not enough

RICHARD.....how....expressive and sad. How could you manage to capture feelings outside of your reality so so well! It's amazing...This is what it must feel like...Beautiful....Of course...A Terzanelle....no wonder. Good morning..Have an awesome day! "Their room left untouched unlike his heart"....PERFECTION IN A LINE!

Richard, you do so well with this form. I hope this is what Susan was wanting for her contest. I saw her blog today and worried that my poem is not what she wanted, because I went the humorous route. but for me, this denotes a man's grief in a specific way and it was interesting for me to read. Very nicely done.

Susan asked for a max of 14 lines. I am not entering this one but I liked the topic so wrote this one for the sake of writing.
