Just by a Breath

 A mere moment's passing,
The blink of an eye,
The few precious seconds
Before one will die,
Are transparent membranes
That contain human lives,
Pierced through by fate
When the Reaper arrives.
The beat of the heart,
The caress of the breeze,
The laugh of a woman
And her dear lover's tease,
Are  fading and fleeting;
All consumed up by Death,
He waits, stopped
Just by a breath

    Excellently written Tara, you penned a perfect picture when death's presence paid a visit. Hugs, Gail
