Rent A Ghost

Hello my friend, glad to see you.
I have a question and I really hope you don't mind me asking.
You see...it's...well...really a bit embarrassing.
I suppose I best come out with it then.
Do you know where I can rent a ghost?
Oh my,...well I do say you look a trifle startled.
I do however admit, I was expecting a response like that.
Now let me explain my predicament.
I am expected at a séance on Friday at 8.30pm sharp on behalf of
Lady Riviera.

You see the poor woman has recently lost her husband and in her
hour of grief would like to converse with her dear departed’s spirit.
Well now I surely cannot disappoint her.
On this particular night there cannot be any trickery and well it is
not something I would do at these events anyway.
Oh my goodness no, it would surely ruin the reputation I have built
up carefully over the years.
Now the Ghost I am seeking would of course only be temporary.
I certainly don't want this establishment haunted by the hired spirit.
No, what with all this original Wedgwood crockery that has been in
the family for generations the last thing I would want is any
breakage!

Now my good sir I suppose I best get to the reason I need to hire this
ghost.
You may need to lean in here as I must keep the reason in the utmost
confidence. I shall be entertaining elsewhere on this night.
Yes a silly and rather embarrassing situation. I must say I do feel
quite the fool about it.
I have double booked and well you know we can't be in two places at
once.
You see as the years pass my memory is really not as it once was.
I had simply forgotten about the previous booking until this morning.
I cannot back out of the first booking now especially as all the
relevant paperwork has been done and money has changed hands. Now Lady Riviera has gone through quite a lot of trouble to organise
her soiree and as she is a wealthy benefactor I simply cannot let her
down.

I am at a loss as to how I can please both parties and hence my dear
sir I am seeking your rather knowledgeable advice.
Your name was highly recommended to me by none other than Lord
Arthur and he has suggested that you will know just the right way to
solve this dilemma.
You know us ghosts really do need to stick together in times of crisis!

A very unique ghost story! I have never read anything quite like this before. I really enjoyed it, and I especially liked the ending. A fantastic poem, Tom!
