Love Those Little Buggars

Could easily eat eggs three times a day Love those little buggers so much Thanks to the hens for being so gracious Providing us with omelettes and such Heard some people even eat 'em raw Now that's not for me I'm afraid Said I loved 'em but I must draw the line Not for me even if I was paid If hens could talk I'm sure they'd be saying “What are you people doing Eating 'em raw was never in the contract” They'd be clucking like hell and fuming My relationship with almost all of the hens Is mutually one of good trust I go by the rules, over-easy or omelettes Respecting their feelings is a must May think I'm strange talking to chickens Have other strange quirks as well But they'll have to wait for another day My brain must rest for a spell © Jack Ellison 2013

Dragon ate an omlet today... after I read this to him... Took a dozen of a dozen eggs to do it... and now he's still hungry and wants the chickens who laid them, too... Put your barbecue sauce away! Dragon! We're going for seafood for lunch... That should distract him... for a while... He hasn't figured out we're land locked here in the middle of the midwest. LOL... won't be shopping for our own sea food... you might say... Red Lobster the Restaurant... should love us... once we pay the bill...

Might save him from touring a chicken raising faculity with his barbecue sauce... Arkansas and southern Missouri are full of them... He could wipe them out in one binge... Don't want to distress those poor chickies! ...LOL

Omelettes...YES! I love those. The omelettes I enjoy making the most: Deli-sliced turkey w/white cheddar cheese & red or blue-skin potatoes. Drake...Hungry.

Ha ha, I love the last line, "My brain must rest for a spell" haven't you noticed that the older you get the more you need to rest your brain? I understand talking to hens...I've done it, my grandparents on my Dad's side had chickens when I was very young, they were quite fun, they can make a lot of noise for such a small creature! But they do produce one of the greatest things for my breakfast, those yummy eggs, I love them as much as you do! What a brilliant poem you've written, Great Work!!

My parents also had chickens when I was very young... don't remember talking to them though! LOL
