Saying Bye to Summer

Well here it is again; it's been long awaited
Feared. Desired.
Dreamt of. Ignored.
Highly Anticipated.

The summer is done and fall has begun
Despite our beseeching tears
That pitter, patter,
Wet the ground
And soak into our fears.

But really, babe; just suck it up,
'Cause summer's end is here.
Say "bye-bye" and "bon voyage"
To memories held dear;

Between now and Christmas, kid,
Be glad for all the things you did,
Because you won't get to do
Those things no more.

Your soul is sold out for the fall
To school, to jobs
And that's not all:
You've got family and friends
To check into.

So take a bit to catch your breath
And think of what your summer meant to you.
