Thoughts on turning 32

(just an
exaggeration
of
negativity
lyrically, so
dont come
scolding
me):) ;)

They
might
wish me a
'HAPPY
BIRTHDAY'
or even
'many
happy
returns
of the day
My folks
send me
gifts and
greeting
Congratulating
me
on a life
that's
fleeting?
Yeah, so I
happen to
be
pessimistic
on this at
times
who sees
life as an
hourglass
One who
sees the
glass half
empty
rather
than half
full
For I
vision
each
birthday
as a step
closer to
old age
A step
closer to
dreaded
death
Isn't it
hard to
look
forward
to going
gaga and
decrepit?
When
smooth
skin would
end
up
crumpled,
wrinkled
Thus each
birthday
to me
is a step
closer to
the end of
a
lifetime
A step
closer to
that
unwanted
guest-
senility
The
reverting
to child-
like
inability,
debility
The
dwindling
of all
agility
The age of
doddering
limbs
half in the
grave
So I'd
rather not
celebrate
the
nearing of
the time
when
we'd
playback
em' flash-
backs
and in the
mind re-
live our
life
tracks.
When
everything
would
trickle
down to
mere
memories
With
ample time
to linger
upon
life's
souvenirs.

So a
birthday is
a step
forward
but
towards
thy
graveyard
The road
to it may
be longer
or
unfortunately
may end
abruptly
in a short
cut
to heaven
or to hell
bard or no
bard!

Great write Saynub , but fear not death and old age. With old age comes much wisdom if one has lived right. At seventy one I find life gets better and better with all it's pains and discomforts. Live beautifully and you will die beautifully. Death brings no fear to me. Some part of you never dies. Look within and see...I love your poems, my friend.....peter

I just turned 30 years old this year, and it really made me stop and think. I realized that I am going to get older and older, and there is really nothing I can do about it. So, I thought that I should still be having fun while I can!...A very thought provoking poem, you are a talented writer!

Hi s zay,, I think birthdays & the ageing process can be looked at on so many different levels, In a positive self discovery & journey of experiences that shape wisdom and knowledge. Yes the physical body declines but the spirit, mind & soul is the most important value we have, Great thoughts as I approach a birthday in november( lol) you have so much to experience ENJOY!!!!:0)

I think the short lines are great. They just pulled me along demanding to be read. It is ironic that I am reading this today on my birthday. Today I turn 52 and in my heart body mind and soul I feel 32. I have had no birthday that has disturbed me for I know one day this body will be shed like an old garment and I will be provided a glorious new body for eternity. I was not made to lie permanently in a grave and neither are you. Embrace each birthday as a gift. Dance and sing, celebrate!
