When the mind is like a whirlpool

When the mind is like a whirlpool

I know that feeling well, do I
When the mind goes round and round
It’s hard to eat and hard to sleep
And peace cannot be found
‘Turn it off’ you scream within
I can’t take it any more
At times you think of suicide
As the fear touches your core.

You’re love ones ask, what’s wrong with you?
But you don’t know yourself
All you know is you don’t feel right
And it’s mucking with your health
You see all of those counselors
They do no good at all
And all you really have to say
Is life’s so very cruel!!

Then one day you, might realize
That it’s all down to you
No one can do it but yourself
And what you have to do
Is do some simple meditation
And take a look within
Then find out what you truly are
Let sanity come in.

Peter, there are so many struggles we read about in Poetry Soup. Thank goodness, we have this outlet to discover that others have similar challenges. Day by day we all seem to find a way to cope. Great poem. Allan

Words of wisdom in your poem Peter. A person has to gain the courage to find their own inner strengths to pull out of whatever they're going through. Nicely penned. Hugs and love, Gail
