The Shy Rose

Such a beautiful, blooming rose,
There is no reason to be shy,
So, why let your petals close,
When the sun is low in the sky.

Daisies and daffodils arrive in spring,
But, roses are rare, delicate flowers,
Brilliant sunsets are also amazing things,
So, why shy away in the midnight hours.

A rainbow of colors shine in daylight,
Pretty pink, sunny yellow, and rosy red,
But, don't be afraid of the night,
Don't go to sleep in your flower bed.

Look up, and behold the radiant moon,
Gaze at every shimmering, falling star,
The sun will be rising again, soon,
So, wait and see these beauties that are.

You do not experience any of this,
When you only awaken in early morn,
What celestial wonders you do miss,
But, every rose must have it's thorn.

The is truly sensitive, even defensive, powerful yet vulnerable. Roses just need a soul like yours to encourage it's inherent bravery Kelly. J.A.B.

Roses are so fragile and so beautiful, yet they have sharp thorns that can cause pain. I think that all humans have these two different sides to us, as well...Thank you so much for the kind words, Justin. I do appreciate it!

HI Kelly, A wonderful write on my favourite flower, the rose. Your words have such an eloquent and easy flow as you write on about this beauty. You definitely have a rose within your heart and that rose has no thorns. The only rose that does not close in the midnight hours is the rose within our hearts. It would stay open always if we would allow it. You paint the rose in its glory and splendour with such gentle words. I Loved this. Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Thank you once again, Cheri. I love the old Santa, too, and I also had a difficult time trying to write a new version of a classic story.
